PERFORMANCE DRIVEN LANDSCAPE IN EMERGING RESORT ISLAND
Located in the famous beach in emerging resort island of Indonesia, Fairfield Hotel by Marriott transformed infrastructure landfill into a lush programmed landscape. With limited depth of soil, experiential and technical considerations were carefully given to make sure seamless spatial offerings throughout.
Local leave were symbolically used as organizing element of the space with drought tolerant and beach friendly landscape materials that will not only reduce needed maintenance but also attract local wildlife to this garden. Urban convenience with several element of surprises were utilised to bring in familiarity to the guests.
Formulate The Geometry Of the Place From Core Performance Rather Than Aesthetic
Utilizing landfill area for the new garden of this hotel, several private and public outdoor rooms were created based on desired performance and maintenance expectation level. The result is series of outdoor rooms that bring people from land to water's edge with textural gradation.
Human Structures Were Added On As Sensible Layering To The Water's Edge
Colors, texture, and scale were incorporate carefully into this dynamic yet intimate garden. Renewable materials were selected based on their ability to sustain changing environmental conditions while day and night programming utilize both proximity and friendly distance from main pool to create another element of reflective water for cooling and flexible function area.
