PRAMESTHA CONVERTIBLE LOFT

Developing unique housing typology within the beautiful valley of Pramestha particularly on the backdrop of market trend of millennials calls for adaptability. This will also need to be accompanied by full attention to connectivity, performance, and nature immersion.

The search for appropriate simulation of green living in high performing compact places require several layering of programs, spatial modelling, and brand positioning. If work/live place should accommodate current needs, then it is valuable to seek whether there is a balanced solution that can bring social, economic, and empowerment benefits.

The project is still on-going but the search for balanced live/work place in this unique terrain worth the early share.

People Centric Social Space Should Inform A New Model of Private Living Spaces

Most of the programming of live/work places started with the private living space. Instead, we envisioned social interaction in the shared spaces first before we formulate the private living space. This way, the true interaction needed to support entrepreneurship can come from the bond within.

Go Against The Norm, We Start From Outside To Inside

With unique terrain, the 2 ha. site offers ability to transform challenges into opportunities. How do we bring density while preserving privacy and build social collaboration at the same time? The answer is series of release-and-contract spaces where exciting surprises and moment of silences can occur side by side, allowing people to choose to hide or be exposed within a compact site. The beautiful outside informs the framed beauty inside.

Taking Cues From Urban Places, Translate Intuition Into Dynamic Live/Work With Architectural Placemaking

While this exercise calls for sensitivity to market forces while still upholding commitment to build community of caring in this lush mountainous Pramestha, the best findings was to the result of architectural peacemaking strategies that support a people place effort that was traditionally applied into urban public place. This approach, architectural placemaking, forced interior space design and correlating outdoor spaces to be in unified network of living spaces - extending the limited private spaces into generous outdoors and shared spaces.
