SAHEJO ECOPARK

Ecological theme park in Indonesia often address awareness and care for the environment artificially. Our plan for Sahejo Ecopark aims to change that paradigm.

Indonesia is still very dependent to others for food supply, an irony for a nation known for productive land and paddy fields. Ecological theme park in Indonesia often developed as a mere amusement park located in heavily planted area with no real educational purposes. We see a real opportunity for a high-performing ecopark to do more. Our vision is to create interactive environmental place with a true immersive experience.

80 Hectares of land located in Purwakarta Region in West Java, Sahejo Ecopark built with permaculture vision in mind that enables a full cycle of agricultural production, consumption, and waste recycle in one high functioning site. We are applying four principles of living in Sahejo: Gather, Produce, Remediate and Recycle. Visitors can immerse themselves in a sustainable self-sufficient community where they can learn food production from a 7-Hectare farm or local ranch, brew coffee from local plantation, composting manure to make fertilizer, even grow seeds from plantation nursery while enjoying overnight stay in state-of-the-art tree villa. Visitors can truly have a complete sustainable living simulation to be emulated in their homes.

Mapping Natural Assets To Daylight Their Potential 

Each area of the site has unique terrain and natural asset such as natural pond, riverside, paddy field, lawn, even forest. Through opportunity mapping, we identify what each spot best potential without over-altering nature.

Amplifying Area Potential To Be A Distinct Place

After identifying the potential, we look for various activities which can amplify site-specific intended experiences. For example in the farm area, we build complementing features such as small huts, paddy field villa, and locavore restaurant to bridge urban visitors experience to local surroundings.

Creating Linkage and Overlaying Experience That Strengthen Integration

Tying all unique spots through a grand storytelling narrative, we create network of linkages for sustainable electrical vehicle, horses, cyclers, and hikers to pass. Then, create various checkpoints and routes so that each visit to Sahejo gives a different story and a new way of seeing the site. The result is immersive experience that elevates all senses, physically and mentally, to build a community of caring.
